A broken footed crow
stood in front of me
like so many other birds
one legged
like me, one winged
like me, a three legged dog
brave…, not because we are
because we must, or else
we die
I feed them seed, n
crackers n beef jerky
n they crow at me
I am still learning their language
They are still learning mine.
